Summer Creative Workshop Series: Celebrate Water!


 

Celebrate Water! In Partnership with the Canadian Museum of Water

 

 

Event Horizon Hobbies is proud to partner with the Canadian Museum of Water for our Celebrate Water workshop series!

 

Throughout July, participants will explore the beauty, wonder, and creativity inspired by water through a variety of hands-on art and crafting experiences. From mermaids and ocean treasures to beach scenes and underwater adventures, each workshop celebrates the important role water plays in our lives and imaginations.

 

As part of this special community partnership, workshop pricing has been offered at a reduced rate to help make these creative experiences accessible to more families.

 

We'll take a break from our water adventures during the week of July 6 for our popular Mini Masters Art Week, where young artists can explore a variety of artistic mediums and techniques.

Week of July 6 (Monday-Friday, 10:30-12:30)

Mini Masters Art Week

 

Single Day: $35 + HST
Full Week: $149 + HST

Let your child explore their creative side during Mini Masters Art Week at Event Horizon Hobbies!

 

Each day, kids will try a different art medium including watercolour, acrylic paint, pastels, mixed media, and messy expression art. They'll learn beginner-friendly techniques, experiment with colours and textures, and create their own finished artwork each day to bring home.

 

Daily Activities

 

Day 1: Watercolour Wonders

  • Soft colours, blending, and water effects.

 

Day 2: Acrylic Canvas Day

  • Paint a pre-drawn canvas or create an original design.

 

Day 3: Pastel Power

  • Blend, smudge, and create colourful pastel artwork.

 

Day 4: Messy Masterpieces

  • Explore texture using fingers, sponges, cotton balls, forks, stamps, cardboard, bubble wrap, and more.

 

Day 5: Gallery Showcase Day

  • Create a final masterpiece using a favourite medium from the week.

Ages: 6–14 (Children 10 and under require adult supervision)

 

Tuesday July 14 and Thursday July 16 (10:30-12:30)

Turn Your Doll into a Mermaid or Merfolk

 

Price: $28 + HST

Celebrate Water Month with a magical hands-on sewing and crafting workshop! Participants will transform their favourite doll into a mermaid or merfolk by creating a custom felt tail, decorating it with fabric paint and sparkling rhinestones, and crafting a matching top.

 

Our instructors will guide participants through basic hand-sewing techniques using embroidery floss and darning needles, making this a fun introduction to sewing and creative design.

 

Please bring ONE doll approximately Barbie-sized (11–12 inches tall) or similar.

All crafting supplies are included. (Children 10 and under require adult supervision)

 

Tuesday July 21 and Thursday July 23 (10:30-12:30)

Pokémon Beach Silhouette Painting

 

Price: $28 + HST

Celebrate Water Month with a fun and creative painting workshop inspired by everyone's favourite pocket monsters! Participants will create a colourful beach sunset scene featuring a Pokémon silhouette against the shoreline.

 

Our instructors will guide participants step-by-step through blending acrylic paints to create a vibrant sky, ocean, and beach before adding their chosen Pokémon silhouette to complete the artwork. A selection of Pokémon silhouettes will be available to choose from.

 

All supplies are included, including canvas, paints, brushes, and instruction. (Children 10 and under require adult supervision)

 

Tuesday July 28 and Thursday July 30 (10:30-12:30)

Under the Sea Trinket Box

 

Price: $28 + HST

Celebrate Water Month by creating your own ocean-inspired treasure box! Participants will paint and decorate a wooden trinket box using seashells, ocean-themed embellishments, and other creative materials to design a unique keepsake perfect for storing small treasures.

 

Our instructors will guide participants through painting techniques and decorating ideas while leaving plenty of room for individual creativity.

 

All supplies are included, including the wooden trinket box, paints, seashells, embellishments, and instruction. (Children 10 and under require adult supervision)
